With a combined 11 five-star commitments before the early signing period even began, Georgia, Alabama and Texas A&M are in the midst of a battle for the top of the heap when it comes to the Class of 2022. The Bulldogs opened the first National Signing Day for this cycle in the No. 1 spot on the 247Sports Composite team rankings but plenty has already changed down the rankings not only Wednesday but through early February 2022.

The Crimson Tide and Aggies were not too far behind the Dawgs entering the day. Each was within striking distance of closing with the top class Wednesday, though Alabama is more likely to reach that mark than Texas A&M. Ohio State appears to be firmly entrenched at No. 4, though Penn State, Texas, Notre Dame will all be jockeying for position as they attempt to bring in some of the top uncommitted prospects in the nation.
