No. 3 Georgia is making a big statement vs. No. 1 Tennessee, leading 24-6 through three quarters in Athens, Georgia. Neither team found the end zone in the third frame, but Georgia’s Jack Podlesny hit a 38-yard field goal with 1:09 left. That capped a 15-play, 64-yard drive that — most importantly for the Bulldogs — took 8:44 off of the clock. It’s still a three-score game heading into the fourth, and Georgia’s defense has shut down Tennessee from the moment toe met leather. It’s going to take a massive shift of momentum for the Volunteers to get back into this one.

Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett IV has been the star of the afternoon. The veteran has two passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown while completing 71% of his passes, and he has been the best quarterback in the building — one that is also housing Tennessee’s Heisman Trophy candidate, Hendon Hooker.

This SEC East battle will likely determine the winner of the division as the head-to-head tiebreaker will essentially put the loser a game-and-a-half back in the division title race. The Dawgs are seeking their fifth such appearance in the last six seasons, while the Vols are hoping to contend in the league for the first time since 2007.
