Earlier, Jos Buttler played a knock of 89 runs as Rajasthan Royals posted 188/6 against Gujarat Titans in the ongoing Qualifier 1 of IPL 2022 at the Eden Gardens. Buttler was slow off the blocks initially and he was left struggling as he searched for timing. However, having reached his half-century in the 17th over of the innings, Buttler managed to strike boundaries at regular intervals and hence Rajasthan Royals posted a score of more than the run mark. Earlier, Sanju Samson missed out on his half-century as he was dismissed by Sai Kishore in the 10th over of the innings. The RR skipper departed after scoring 47. Earlier, Sanju Samson and Jos Buttler helped Rajasthan Royals end the powerplay in style, taking the attack to the Gujarat Titans bowlers to eventually get 55 runs from it. Yash Dayal provided the first breakthrough to Gujarat Titans as Yashasvi Jaiswal was sent back for 3. Earlier, Gujarat Titans won the toss and opted to bowl first against Rajasthan Royals.
