Officials said the incident happened on Tuesday, Aug. 9, in Waycross, about 125 miles southwest of Savannah.That’s when the GBI officials said agents from its Douglas Regional Office were requested by the RYDC to investigate a juvenile that was reported unresponsive.According to the GBI, preliminary information indicates that a juvenile was in the presence of a staff member and other juveniles at the facility when he lost consciousness. Emergency Medical Service was contacted and the juvenile was transported to Memorial Health Hospital in Savannah, and later died, officials said.
